This is sold as is meaning although the instrument itself looks great, it is not ready to be played and needs work put into it. The case also has no carrying handle and is definitely worn, the strips of wood peeling off from it but the latches do work to keep the instrument secure. Unfortunately most True-Tones aren't worth a whole lot. It needs new pads and chemically cleaned along with the case, the entire set smells of mold/basement because of how old that this item is. (117 posts) 10 years ago Re: Buescher True-Tone Low Pitch The serial number puts the horn from 1924. That sounds like a fairly good price if its in good shape like they said. Buescher C-mels also have a keyguard for alt F on the back of the horn. A C-melody looks similar to a tenor but is smaller-a Buescher C-Mel has a curved neck. The saxophone itself along with the ligature, mouthpiece, and neck are all in great condition with no major dents or damage that would affect its playability in any way, however, it all needs a lot of work done to it. Low pitch can be either, its a pitching standard, not a size. Appraised VIntage Buescher Elkhart True Tone Tenor.
